Western’s Department of Music opens fall concert series with piano duo

Western’s Department of Music will host the Martin-Melitón Piano Duo in Quigley’s Kincaid Concert Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. for the first show of the fall concert series.

Spanish-born pianists Elena Martin and Jose Melitón will share their original program, “Under Lemon Trees,” which was inspired by Mediterranean Spain. The pair has garnered worldwide acclaim for the unusual clarity and strong rhythm of their music.

Both Martín and Melitón hold the Título Superior de Piano from the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid as well as master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

This free event is open to the public.
