Degree:

Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration

Earn an energy management degree with a BA in Business Administration for careers in renewable energy

The Energy Management Degree at Western Colorado University prepares students to navigate the rapidly changing energy industry through a combination of business, policy, economics, and sustainability studies. This interdisciplinary energy management program provides the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in traditional and renewable energy sectors.

If you want to help businesses become more energy efficient as a sustainability consultant, or represent oil and gas companies as a landman, you need an education in energy management. Accredited by the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), the Energy Management program provides a comprehensive understanding about the business of energy and mineral exploration.

Students also learn land and resource management principles from the perspective of business administration, economics, geology and environmental studies. The program includes a focus on the disciplines of renewable, oil and gas, and mineral management. It also covers Native American, federal, state and private real estate management; as well as surface, water and environmental land management.

As an Energy Management student, you gain automatic access to the Western’s Energy Leaders (WEL). Being a member of this organization allows you to meet potential employers at networking events and industry conferences.

For hands-on experience, students have opportunities to travel abroad and install renewable forms of energy in locations lacking energy infrastructure. You also explore mines and oil and gas production sites on field trips throughout the year. Throughout your time in the program, we provide one-on-one mentoring and preparation for internships and job placements to ensure your success beyond Western.

Graduates of this energy business degree are prepared for careers in energy consulting, resource management, renewable energy development, sustainability planning, public policy, and corporate energy management. Launch your future in the evolving energy economy with Western’s Energy Management Degree and gain the skills needed to lead in energy, sustainability, and business.

Emphasis
Minor

A major emphasis dives deeper into a specific interest within your major. It allows you to focus on a particular area of study, replacing the need for a separate minor. By tailoring your coursework, a major emphasis equips you with specialized knowledge and skills to better prepare you for career opportunities or advanced studies in your chosen field.

A minor complements your major by allowing you to explore a secondary field of interest. It requires fewer courses than a major, making it a flexible way to broaden your knowledge, diversify your skills, or pursue a personal passion alongside your primary area of study.
