Junior Mountaineers is a Western Colorado University-operated summer day and adventure camp that blends athletics, outdoor recreation, and STEAM learning. Our licensed programs are led by experienced staff and Western students, creating a safe, active, and inclusive experience for every camper.
Western Colorado University’s JMC program operates under a special use permit on the Gunnison National Forest, National Park Services, Bureau of Land Management, and Crested Butte Land Trust. Western Colorado University is an equal opportunity provider.

Need financial support?

Western Colorado University’s JMC program is proud to provide scholarships that support equitable access to outdoor recreation opportunities for underserved youth. This scholarship program is made possible in part through funding from a City of Gunnison Public Service Grant and a Gunnison County Metropolitan Recreation District (MetRec) Grant.

Scholarships are awarded based on demonstrated need and on a first-come, first-served basis.

JMC excels at offering varied programming, knowledgeable and caring staff, a safe learning environment, and a passion for inspiring campers to be creative and try new things. Bonus—JMC saves summer for working parents by offering the only Gunnison Valley summer camp that covers standard working hours M-F.
