Ensuring the integrity and quality of Western’s academic programs.

At Western Colorado University, the Office of the Provost leads the university’s academic mission by overseeing curriculum development, academic planning, and faculty affairs. As the chief academic office, it ensures the integrity and excellence of all academic programs while aligning them with Western’s core values: Courage, Growth, Inclusivity, Integrity, and Stewardship. The office also works closely with departments and support services to foster a strong, student-centered learning environment.

Meet Your Provost

Pavel Cenkl, PhD 

Pavel Cenkl brings more than twenty years of experience in international higher education leadership, with a focus on interdisciplinary, place-based, and ecologically grounded learning. His work emphasizes leadership, research, and partnership development to support innovative pedagogy, student and community engagement, and provide broad access to experiences that inspire people to make meaningful change in the world.
