On-Campus Visit Options
ur on-campus expeditions offer a range of visit opportunities—from daily visits lasting a few hours, to full-day events, and immersive weekend experiences. These programs provide a deeper look into what Western has to offer and are tailored to your current stage in the admissions process.
Daily Campus Visits
Available most weekdays and some Saturdays, our daily campus tours and information sessions are a great way to get a feel for Western, meet a professor, and start your Mountaineer journey.
Basecamp Western: Western Open House
Basecamp Western is designed to be the ultimate day of exploration for prospective students and their guests. Through this comprehensive on-campus event, discover all that our campus, community, and the Gunnison Valley have to offer.
Ascend Western: Admitted Student Weekend
Now that you’ve been admitted, it’s time to celebrate and discover your next steps to becoming a Mountaineer! Immerse yourself in our diverse academic programs, student involvement opportunities and treasured Gunnison traditions. Plus, we’ll throw in a complimentary lift ticket!
Summit Western: Deposited Student Experience
Calling all committed Mountaineers, come experience Our Side of the Mountains with us! This is your opportunity to connect with your future classmates, EPIC mentors and Western alumni while taking in the breathtaking views of your future home!
May 30th–31st
This session includes camping under the stars, whitewater rafting down the Taylor River, and hiking through scenic Taylor Canyon.
July 11th–12th
This session includes camping under the stars, horseback riding through Taylor Canyon, and attending Cattlemen’s Days, Gunnison’s legendary rodeo.
