Hybrid Camp gives middle school campers the best of both worlds by blending day camp with a true backcountry-style overnight experience. The week begins with two days of JMC Adventures Day Camp, where campers sharpen technical skills, build confidence, and prepare for travel before heading off-site for a three-day, two-night camping trip from Wednesday through Friday. This structure allows campers to experience overnight camping without being away from home for the full week.
Campers rotate through high-energy outdoor adventures, including mountain biking, rafting, stand-up paddleboarding, rock climbing, hiking, and navigation challenges, while also developing their leadership and teamwork skills. Educational components include Leave No Trace principles, wilderness survival skills, and nature-based art that encourages creativity and reflection. Overnight locations may include Hartman’s Rocks, a group campsite near Neversink Trail, or Clark Cabin, depending on permits and program readiness.
