Western Places Two Students in National Speakers Competition Finals

Pi Sigma Epsilon chapter attends national convention in St. Louis.

The Eta Xi Chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon at Western Colorado University showcased exceptional talent and brought home several big wins from the sales and marketing fraternity’s National Convention held in St. Louis, Missouri, April 10-13.

Chapter members represented the University with pride at the event, excelling in multiple competitions while demonstrating their prowess in sales, public speaking, interviewing, and marketing. Notably, Western senior Abigail Gridley and junior Dillon Ecker emerged as two of the six National Finalists, marking a significant achievement for the chapter.

Out of 350 student competitors from 28 chapters present, Western’s chapter was the only chapter to have two members represented among the National Speakers Competition finalists.

During the Speakers Competition, Gridley delivered a captivating speech on the profound influence of women in her life, earning her the remarkable 2nd place overall in the National Speakers Competition. Additionally, in the Year-long Pro-Am Sell-A-Thon Sales competition, Abigail secured another remarkable 2nd place nationally and was ranked in the top 10 of the National Pro-Am Sales competition, showcasing her exceptional sales acumen.

Beyond the competitive arena, chapter members engaged with industry professionals at the career fair, received invaluable insights from the Carew International sales team, and gained inspiration from keynote speakers representing esteemed organizations such as Federated Insurance, Mutual of Omaha, and Pella Corporation. They also took the opportunity to explore the vibrant city of St. Louis, visiting iconic landmarks including the renowned Gateway Arch National Park and other historical sites.

“We are immensely proud of the outstanding performance of our chapter members at the National Convention,” Chapter President Mikaela Turner said. “Their dedication, hard work, and talent have truly shone through, reflecting the values of excellence and professionalism that Pi Sigma Epsilon stands for.”

The success of the Eta Xi Chapter at the National Convention underscores Western Colorado University’s commitment to fostering leadership, innovation, and excellence among its students.
