Biography
Dr. Jennie Reithel joined the Rocky Mountain Biological Lab (RMBL) in 2007 as the Science Director. Before that, she taught courses at RMBL and coordinated the undergraduate research program at RMBL. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California Irvine in 2003 and her B.A. from Middlebury College in 1995.
Her research interests include invasive plant management, habitat restoration and plant-insect interactions. She has ongoing invasive plant management experiments at RMBL in the summer. Students interested in pursuing questions related to invasive plants and restoration are encouraged to reach out to her.
Her work as Science Director involves assisting scientists with the logistics of field work in the Gunnison Basin. She manages more than 3000 research sites and handles permitting for more than 100 research projects at RMBL. Additionally, she oversees RMBL’s summer research program for undergraduates.
She and her husband and two boys enjoy spending summers at Gothic, climbing mountains, looking for bugs, pulling weeds, and socializing in the RMBL dining hall!
