Biography

How did you discover Western?
As someone who grew up in Meeker on Colorado’s Western Slope, I have always felt at home in mountain communities. My family and I spent many weekends exploring the Gunnison Valley, so Western was already a place I knew and admired. Joining the Western community felt like a natural next step, and I appreciate being part of a place where learning, connection, and the outdoors are woven into everyday life.

What are some of the highlights of your career?
My career has included work in natural resources as well as nearly two decades in higher education, supporting students through residence life, student success, academic coaching, family engagement, communications, and retention initiatives. I’ve had the opportunity to lead programs, build partnerships, and support students at many different stages of their journey, but what I enjoy most is helping people feel connected, supported, and empowered to reach their goals.

What most excites you about your field?
For me, it’s all about the people. I love building relationships, helping students see their own strengths, and being someone they can turn to for guidance and encouragement. I also enjoy working behind the scenes to strengthen programs and support the people who make a difference in students’ lives. Every student has a unique story, and being part of that journey, whether directly or behind the scenes, is what excites me most about this work.

What is your favorite thing about the Gunnison Valley?
Gunnison Valley is the best of both worlds! I love the welcoming, small-town feel of the Gunnison Valley and the incredible natural beauty that surrounds it. Between the sense of community and endless opportunities to get outside and explore, it’s a pretty special place.
