Western Students Connect with Industry Experts at Spring Seminar

Students from Western Colorado University’s Energy Management Program recently participated in the Spring Land Seminar: Powering the Future, Synergy Between Renewables, Alternative and Oil & Gas.

The event, organized by the Denver Association of Professional Landmen (DAPL), provided students with a chance to network, find internships or job opportunities, and hear firsthand how the energy industry is evolving to integrate renewable and traditional energy sources to meet the needs of the future.

During expert-led discussions on carbon capture, energy regulation, and strategies for co-developing renewable and conventional energy projects, students saw how land management, environmental assessment, and regulatory compliance skills are being put to use across the energy industry.

“By attending seminars like this one, our students gain direct access to the topics and discussions being carried out by professionals in the industry,” Western’s Director of Energy Management Dennis Dunivan said. “It’s critical that our students and our program are in alignment with the industry as new technologies are developed and new ways of meeting our energy demands are introduced.”
