On April 4 and 5, the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) sponsored the inaugural Southern Colorado Higher Education Consortium Summit at Western Colorado University. Held in a ballroom within the University Center at the heart of campus, the summit included 10 schools and approximately 100 participants.
The focus of the summit’s keynote presentations and panelists—“Ethics in the Outdoor Industry”—was a natural fit for Western, which launched in 2018 a first-of-its-kind Outdoor Industry MBA program.
“It was an honor to host this event and to collaborate with UCCS and other southern Colorado universities and colleges,” said Western Professor of Business Jeff Dykes, according to UCCS University Communications. “While students, business leaders and faculty from various locations shared unique perspectives, the ethical challenges related to the outdoor industry seemed similar. It was rewarding to see how the guiding principles espoused by the Daniels Fund were consistently used to ‘do the right thing’ when it comes to challenges facing the industry.”
