Engineering for a better future.

Mechanical engineers play a vital role in nearly every industry, from biomedical and aerospace to automotive and energy, using science, math, and technology to solve complex problems. With the job market expected to grow 10% from 2022 to 2032, creating about 19,200 openings each year, the demand for skilled engineers is on the rise. Most businesses rely on mechanical engineers to innovate, test, and build essential systems and devices.

At Western, you’ll prepare for this high-demand field through our Engineering Partnership Program with the University of Colorado Boulder. You’ll spend your first two years as a Western student, then transition to CU Boulder for the final two years, all while staying on Western’s Gunnison campus. Housed in the Paul M. Rady School of Computer Science & Engineering, the program offers access to state-of-the-art labs, expert faculty, hands-on coursework, and competitive internship opportunities that set you up for success in a wide range of careers.
