Biography

How did you discover Western?

I first discovered Western as a high school student. I actually applied back in 2019, but when COVID-19 hit in 2020, I chose to stay closer to home and attend community college instead. I ended up rediscovering Western through my community college program; representatives from Western visited one of my classes, and the program director strongly recommended Western as a potential next step after earning my associate degree.

What are some of the highlights of your career?

Most of my professional experience has been rooted in education and advising:
Some of the highlights so far include:
-Serving as an Aquatic Nuisance Species Outreach Technician with Colorado Parks and Wildlife
-Working as an EPIC Mentor, supporting new undergraduate students as they transition into college life
-Teaching Leave No Trace principles twice for undergraduate classes
-Serving as a Graduate Assistant for a food justice internship
-Outdoor Educator Supervisor at an environmental discovery camp
-Teaching STEM education

What most excites you about your field?

I’m glad to help students build their career future!

What is your favorite thing about the Gunnison Valley?

My favorite thing about the Gunnison Valley is the community vibe; there’s a genuine sense of connection that’s hard to find elsewhere. I also love the live music scene. Most weekends, you can find a band playing somewhere in town.
