Gunnison Art Walk features alumni artist

The Gunnison Arts Center held a charity auction and presented a short play written by Calvin Curry and adapted by Michael Callihan titled “Murder From the Past,” a wry murder-mystery thriller set in the 1920s. The Coldharbour and I Bar ranches also set up booths near the arts center to promote upcoming events to pedestrians and Art Walk attendees.

In Quigley Hall, the work of alumna Flannery Grace Good, 41, was set up in the gallery as part of the Art Walk. The pieces all had a personal and deep meaning to Good: loss, love, fears and hopes all worked into the intricate pieces she had on display.

“Each of these pieces fought me tooth and nail,” Good said.

As a metalsmith with nearly 20 years under her belt, Good had a few words of wisdom to pass on to the student body.

“The road to success is fail, fail, fail … eventually you’ll succeed.”
