The Alumni Relations Department at Western Colorado University recently announced the 2020 recipients of the Alumni Award for Excellence. This distinction is the highest honor for graduating seniors.
This year’s honorees are Caitlin Berns, Erin Blair, Cheryl Cwelich, McKenna Griffin, Jacob Raber, Jessica Roper, Skyeler Smith and Leif Townsend.
All of the nominees are dedicated to being the best versions of themselves. They are students with outstanding academic records who are diligent, creative members of Western’s community.
“They’ve given their bright selves to campus and the Western community,” said Ann Johnston, Western’s Director of Alumni Relations.
Students are nominated by members of the university’s faculty and staff. The Alumni Advisory Board then reviews the nominations and selects winners. This year, the selection committee had to make tough decisions as the drive and initiative of the nominees was clearly demonstrated by those who recommended them.
The recipients will be honored at a special online awards ceremony on May 8 at 6 p.m., led by Western President Greg Salsbury, Ph.D., and Dean of Students Gary Pierson.
