Enhance your leadership skills through sport.
A complement to any Exercise and Sport Science pathway, the coaching minor provides an academic framework for helping you learn how to work with athletes both individually and in team settings. The minor provides an understanding of not only the athletic considerations of coaching such as training plans and injury prevention and rehabilitation, but also the mental aspects of coaching such as preventing burnout, setting goals, and motivation.
This 18-credit minor will prepare you to pursue further study, internships, graduate assistantships and/or entry level coaching positions at various levels of sport, recreation and fitness. The curriculum was purposefully constructed to include courses that do not have course-related prerequisites so that students from disciplines across campus may seamlessly complete the requirements to earn the coaching minor.
