“We are thrilled to give our students this unique opportunity to support career progress”

GUNNISON, Colorado: Western Colorado University is pleased to announce a new partnership with Palmer College of Chiropractic that will offer students a unique opportunity to accelerate their post-graduate education by completing courses at Western and Palmer simultaneously in a 3+1 program.

Beginning in the Fall of 2024, students will be able to enroll in the program and complete the first three years of their studies in the Exercise & Sport Science or Pre-Health programs at Western. Then, they will transfer to Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Main Campus in Davenport, Iowa, or Palmer Florida in Port Orange to simultaneously complete the final year of their bachelor’s degree program and their first year of their Doctor of Chiropractic studies.

“Western’s transfer agreement with Palmer College of Chiropractic supports curricular innovation by providing our students an accelerated professional pathway to enhance the quality and value of their Western degree,” Western Professor of Exercise & Sport Science Gary Van Guilder said. “We are thrilled to give our students this unique opportunity to support career progress more efficiently by obtaining their bachelor’s degree at Western while also pursuing a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the global leader in chiropractic education.”

The 3+1 program not only accelerates the timeline for students to earn their Doctor of Chiropractic degree, saving students one year of time and tuition, but also fosters a collaborative learning environment between Western and Palmer.

“The agreement between Palmer and Western Colorado University is beneficial not only to students but also their future patients,” Dennis Marchiori, D.C., Ph.D., chancellor and CEO of Palmer College said. “The demand and opportunities for Doctors of Chiropractic grow every year, and this provides another strong pathway for students who have the desire to provide conservative, non-invasive patient care.”

Prospective students interested in this program are encouraged to contact the admissions offices of either Western Colorado University or Palmer College of Chiropractic for more information.
