Elizabeth Bradfield Named New Poetry Concentration Director at Western’s Graduate Program in Creative Writing

Western Colorado University is pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Bradfield as the new Poetry Concentration Director within its esteemed Graduate Program in Creative Writing (GPCW), effective May 1, 2025. Bradfield, an accomplished poet, educator, and founding editor of Broadsided Press, brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the craft to the program.

Bradfield was selected following a highly competitive national search. The search committee, composed of faculty, students, and staff, was deeply impressed by Bradfield’s extensive teaching experience, administrative abilities, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and demonstrated passion for fostering and promoting poetry.

“[Elizabeth] feels like home,” shared one enthusiastic committee member during the selection process, highlighting the immediate connection felt with her warmth, intelligence, and commitment to community.

Bradfield will oversee the curriculum and faculty within the Poetry concentration, mentor MFA thesis projects, and actively recruit and advise students, contributing significantly to the GPCW’s vibrant literary community. Her arrival promises an exciting new chapter for the program and its students.
