Campus counseling that’s here when you need it.

The Gunnison Valley Health (GVH) Behavioral Health team offers individual counseling for Western students, staff, and faculty. The University Counseling Center is located in Crystal Hall 104.

Services include on-site counseling and support in some of the following areas:

  • Adjustment
  • Anxiety
  • Crisis intervention
  • Depression
  • Grief or loss
  • Peer support services
  • Relationships
  • Substance use and abuse treatment
  • Urgent consultation

Walk-Ins:

Accepted on a first-come, first-served basis Monday to Friday, 10 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 3 p.m. (during academic year only)

When a person is in crisis, they should call 911 and ask for a mobile crisis clinician to come to their location, or call or text the Colorado Crisis Services Hotline at 988. Their trained professionals provide free, immediate, and confidential help 24/7, 365 days a year. This service is always here for you, regardless of your issue or circumstance.

Direct Visit: Gunnison Valley Hospital Emergency Room (711 N. Taylor St.)

Ask them to page the Mental Health Emergency Professional on call (there may be charges for the hospital and lab)
