When Is Tuition Due?

• Full tuition is due on the first official start date of each semester, regardless of when your courses start.

• If you cannot pay in full, you must enroll in the W-Pay Payment Plan and make your first payment by the first official start date of each semester.

• Future installment due dates are outlined in the Payment Plan Terms and Conditions.

• Please refer to the announcements in the Student Financials Hub in Workday.

A $50 late fee per month will be added for each missed or late payment.

Consequences of late or missed payments may include:

• A hold on your student account

• Inability to register for or modify classes

• Referral to a collection agency as required by Colorado law

  • Collection costs and legal fees will be added to your account

  • Delinquencies reported to national credit bureaus

The W-Pay Payment Plan splits your total balance into four equal payments per semester, with:

• $40 enrollment fee

• Interest-free payments

• Full terms provided upon enrollment

Western offers a Mandatory Fee Waiver for select undergraduate students who complete at least 80% of their coursework off-campus. Eligible situations include:

• Study abroad

• Off-campus internships or practicum

• Student teaching

• Fully online courses

Not eligible:

• Hybrid classes or courses with any on-campus component

• NSE (National Student Exchange) students

How to Apply:

• Locate the Mandatory Fee Waiver on MyWestern under the Cashier's Forms.

• Submit the form before the term’s census date
  
  • Summer term: Submit by the first day of the term

Students may choose to opt out of the following fees each semester:

• Campus Rec Fee
• Renewable Energy Fee
• Scholarly Activity Fee

To waive these fees:

1. Send an email from your Western email account to cashier@western.edu

2. Include your full name, student ID, and the specific fees you want to waive

3. Submit your request before the official drop deadline (2.5 weeks after the start of the semester)

A new request is required every semester. You cannot use Campus Rec Facilities if the fee is waived.

Certain changes may affect your account balance, such as:

• Dropping or adding classes
• Receiving additional aid or scholarships
• Changes to housing or meal plans

These changes may also affect your financial aid. Refer to the Financial Aid Adjustment Policy to understand how these adjustments may affect your bill.

If you withdraw from single courses, you are still liable for those tuition and fee charges.

Withdrawal from the University may result in a partial adjustment in tuition, fees, and University charges. Additionally, the University may be required to return a portion of your federal financial aid, which could result in a balance due.

If you withdraw from the University, you may be eligible for a partial adjustment of tuition and fees based on when you withdraw during the semester.
