Teaching and Learning Center

Supporting faculty with resources to enhance teaching and student learning.

Fostering a collaborative and innovative academic community.

Everyone at Western Colorado University, whatever their position or experience, is an integral component of an academic community that cultivates openness, curiosity, and possibility in every aspect of teaching and learning. The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) actively engages all faculty, staff, and administrators in collaborative initiatives designed to reimagine WCU’s educational landscape—rooted in diverse expertise and committed to continuous growth.

Facilitate Community

The TLC hosts many events each month to bring educators together around a variety of topics, areas of interest, needs, and more. Recurring events include Educator Spotlights, Mentorship Lunches, Drop-In Coffee and Brown-Bag Lunches, Communities of Practice, and Western Showcases.

Acknowledge Excellence

Educators are invited to share research and/or instructional development with a multidisciplinary audience in a formal academic setting such as a Western Showcase, to contribute to a shared body of instructional knowledge through participation in events such as Educator Spotlights, and to celebrate their colleagues’ accomplishments in a variety of venues.

Incubate Ideas

The TLC supports instructors as they develop and apply skills such as creativity, adaptability, and resilience within their teaching practice. We are your partners in generating and testing new methods to address challenges that arise in an evolving education landscape.

Curate Resources

Educators can look to the TLC for guidance as they identify and implement instructional techniques and skills that align with current best practice. We are also here to help assess when and how edtech supports pedagogy and to support faculty in efforts to integrate edtech into a classroom with purpose and confidence.
