Find your own unique form of creative expression.

The Sculpture emphasis offers you the opportunity to work with a variety of materials and processes—carving or constructing objects in wood, clay and metal—and procedures used in casting bronze, iron and aluminum. In the program, you’ll also be able to explore electronic and kinetic functionality in contemporary sculpture, including mechanical motion, sound and kinetic environments. Through coursework in ceramics, sculpture and jewelry, you’ll gain a diverse range of skills and exposure to different types of creative media. While the program teaches traditional methodologies, our experienced faculty will encourage you to pursue ambitious projects and maintain an experimental approach.

Our Sculpture Emphasis is one of the few that combines traditional sculpting techniques with modern innovations like electronic motion and sound integration. Whether you’re casting bronze or creating interactive kinetic sculptures, you’ll have access to the latest tools and techniques to bring your vision to life.

Emphasis

A major emphasis dives deeper into a specific interest within your major. It allows you to focus on a particular area of study, replacing the need for a separate minor. By tailoring your coursework, a major emphasis equips you with specialized knowledge and skills to better prepare you for career opportunities or advanced studies in your chosen field.
