Ms. Ami

Biography

My name is Ami Bare and I am excited to introduce myself to you! I will be re-joining the JMC Team for a second summer as a Expedition Camp Lead. I grew up in Kansas City, and was (and still am!) a lifelong summer camp kid. I worked at a residential YMCA camp in Auburn, New York for 4 summers, and then have worked at a few different day camps throughout Colorado since! During the academic year, I run the childcare programming for the Gunnison Recreation Center, but overnight summer camp is my passion! In my four years of residential camps, I watched campers grow in confidence, spirit, and skill, and I believe that they taught me as much as I taught them.

I attended and graduated from Western Colorado University with a degree in Recreation and Outdoor Education with an emphasis in Outdoor Environmental Education and a Minor in Environment and Sustainability. I have also completed my Wilderness First Responder certification through NOLS Wilderness Medicine. In my free time, I love to be outside! I love to paddleboard, rock climb, hike, and have recently taken up mountain biking!
