Biography

How did you discover Western?

My husband attended Western, and his love for the university and Gunnison brought us back here. I am excited to make contributions to Western and the larger community and to have my own Western stories to add to family lore!

What are some of the highlights of your career?

• National Board Certified Teacher: Adolescence and Young Adulthood/English Language Arts
• Staff Development Coordinator and Teacher Trainer

What excites you most about your field?

I am excited to help students find meaning and gain confidence in their writing through the study of rhetoric. We write to share and read to understand. This is true in every field of study, and as students grow as writers and gain confidence in their ability to share what they know and think and feel, it will help them achieve their personal and professional goals. I really just love helping students reach the goals they have set for themselves through becoming more confident communicators.

What is your favorite thing about the Gunnison Valley?

It is too difficult to choose a favorite, so here is a list of what makes the Gunnison Valley special to me: the kind and friendly people; the blue skies and sunshine every day; the clear skies and stars at night; the beautiful landscape and wildlife; the vibrant community events and activities; and the clean fresh air. I love it here!
