Biography

Joan Cook has over twelve years of experience in higher education and civil rights compliance including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, ADA/ADAAA, Clery, and FERPA as well as extensive knowledge of related guidance and standards; investigation methods, including trauma-informed interview techniques; technical and analytical report writing; human resources principles; and best practices and trends in the field of higher education and how to align them with institutional needs and culture. Joan has spent her higher education career working in a small town 4-year institution as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Student Conduct Administrator and in a large urban community college as a Title IX Coordinator and leading a comprehensive compliance office. She also served as a member of the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) at both institutions.

Joan earned her Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in social work from the University of Dayton.
