Biography

Jermaine Rodney is an entrepreneur, technologist, and community leader whose career reflects a sustained commitment to the Gunnison Valley and to the values of service, innovation, and connection. Originally from Jamaica, Jermaine launched his first venture—Mr. Nice Guy Coffee—prior to attending Western Colorado University, importing coffee beans directly from Jamaican farmers and establishing the foundation for his future work as a business owner.

After earning his degree in Business Administration and Computer Information Science, Jermaine went on to develop and manage a diverse portfolio of businesses throughout the Gunnison Valley. His ventures have included Jermaine’s Café, Sportsman’s Liquor, Ol Miner Steakhouse, Chill Spot, and multiple dining operations at the Gunnison airport and in Mount Crested Butte. Through these enterprises, he has contributed to the region’s economic vitality while creating welcoming spaces that bring people together.

In addition to his entrepreneurial accomplishments, Jermaine has served Western Colorado University through his work in the IT department, applying his technical expertise to support essential campus systems and institutional initiatives.

Jermaine is widely recognized for his generosity, mentorship, and deep engagement in the community. He has supported local organizations, provided meaningful employment opportunities for students, and consistently invested his time and resources in efforts that strengthen the social fabric of Gunnison. His leadership and service continue to exemplify the values of Western Colorado University and the broader community he calls home.
