How did you discover Western?
I discovered Western as a high school student while attending Golden High School. I originally wanted to come run NCAA track & cross country, but once I got onto campus, I discovered the Mountain Sports Trail Running Team, and I was hooked.
What are some of the highlights of your career?
Prior to working at Western Colorado University, I was a public school science teacher in Colorado Springs for five years. Working with students has been an incredibly rewarding experience and has become one of my life’s passions.
What most excites you about your field?
In my opinion, education is all about forming experiences on your journey to adulthood. The positive experiences you have here on campus will last a lifetime. If we can provide more opportunities for students to make positive experiences in campus recreation, then count me in!
What is your favorite thing about the Gunnison Valley?
The Gunnison Valley is an incredible place that I am lucky enough to call home. Nestled here in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, we have access to some of the most spectacular public lands this country has to offer. Our community’s close connection with nature brings joy to all who come here.
