What year in school are you and when do you plan to graduate?
I’m in my third year at Western and plan to graduate in May of 2027.
How did you discover Western?
At the end of my senior year of high school, I was still unsure of my plans for after I graduated. My counselor came to me one day recommending Western and suggested I look into the school more. I instantly fell in love with its location, the art programs offered here, and the small size of the school in general.
What are some of the highlights of your time at Western?
I definitely enjoy its location and being in close proximity to a multitude of outdoor activities and the ski resort. Some of my best memories since coming here have been hiking and camping with my friends as well as skiing. On campus I have been involved with Western’s Wildlife Society and have made some great memories through the club.
What excites you about your major?
I’m starting the BFA program this year with an emphasis in ceramics, so I am excited to begin a deeper exploration into my art and processes and continue to grow my skill set and knowledge of the craft.
What is your favorite thing about the Gunnison Valley?
I enjoy how tightknit the community is here. The valley feels very welcoming and there are so many resources available that make living here a wonderful experience. Like I have talked about, I enjoy the outdoors, and the valley is filled with endless opportunities to get outside and enjoy nature.
