Mountaineer Marketplace is teaming up with City Market this winter to take on food insecurity through the Fight Hunger reusable bag program.
Throughout February and March, the Gunnison City Market will donate $1 to Western’s Mountaineer Marketplace for every $2.50 Fight Hunger reusable bag sold. The program is part of City Market’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative, which aims to provide access to nutritious food while promoting sustainability.
Funds raised through the Fight Hunger bag program will go directly to support Mountaineer Marketplace, which is Western’s on-campus food pantry and works closely with community partners to serve students, faculty, and staff.
“We’re incredibly grateful to be selected for this program. It’s so special living in a community that recognizes the need to support college students’ food security,” Western’s Director of Community Wellness McKenzie Mathewson said. “The funds raised through the Fight Hunger bags program will help us keep nutritional food available for students and help them succeed.”
