Accreditation is a voluntary process through which an external professional body evaluates a program against established standards of quality and rigor. National nursing accreditation signals to employers, licensing boards, and graduate programs that a curriculum meets widely recognized criteria in nursing education.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
The baccalaureate degree in nursing at Western Colorado University is pursuing initial accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (https://www.aacnnursing.org/ccne-accreditation). Applying for accreditation does not guarantee that accreditation will be granted.
Current Status of the BSN Program
Western’s BSN program is in the process of obtaining national nursing accreditation. While the program continues to provide high-quality instruction and student support, students should be aware that the program has not yet received accreditation from a national nursing accrediting organization.
