Over 80% of MEM students—across both residential and distance pathways—receive some form of financial support through fellowships, assistantships, internships, or grants. Program fellowships, which do not include a work requirement, are typically awarded to incoming students and applied during the first year of the MEM program. Fellowship consideration occurs after admission; admitted students receive a link to a brief Microsoft Form in their next-steps materials to be considered for available awards. The number of fellowships offered each year varies based on the size and strength of the admitted student pool, and only a small number require additional application steps. In the second year, students often pursue assistantships or project-based funding, which include a work component and may—if the student chooses—be integrated into the student’s master’s project in collaboration with a faculty mentor or external partner.
