Biography
Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Austin grew up skiing at Snoqualmie Pass, Washington, then relocated to Colorado to pursue a degree in environmental engineering at CU Boulder. Austin began competing in freeride as a member of CU Freeskiing in 2016, and he has competed in more than two dozen Freeride World Qualifier events across the US and Canada since then. Austin’s coaching career began with Team Summit Colorado in 2019, where he coached junior freeride for five seasons before moving to Crested Butte to take on the head coaching role for Western. Outside of freeride, Austin works as a specialist on agrivoltaics — the integration of agriculture with solar energy — for a national farmland conservation non-profit, and in his free time he enjoys backpacking, mountain biking, and chess.
