Ute Hall

Indigenous peoples have lived, prayed, loved, laughed, and raised children in the Gunnison and Uncompahgre country. The Utes and their many distinct bands are primary among many groups who historically had ties to this land.

Western Colorado University humbly acknowledges the sacred sites, hunting and gathering grounds, spiritually important mountains, botanical resources, special buttes, and other places of significance for the Indigenous peoples.

Members of the Western community hereby express respect for the Utes and their ongoing connections to this land.

Ute Hall is a traditional dorm-style residence hall. The coed space offers community-style living for 132 students. Two students share one room. Each floor has communal men’s and women’s restrooms. Each floor also has a lounge with a television and a study area.

Each room in Ute Hall includes the following:

• Extra-long twin beds (80″)
• Two walk-in closets and dressers
• Two desks and chairs
• Laminate floors

Ute Hall is available to first-year incoming students only. Honors Program students are given priority, though it is optional for them to live in Ute Hall.

Ute Hall’s room and furniture measurements are as follows:

• Room: 19’ by 12’
• Bed: Twin XL; 1’ off ground
• Closet: 7’3” tall; 3’wide; 4’long
• Desk: 2’5” tall’ ;3’6” wide; 2’ long
• Dresser: 2’5” tall; 2’5” wide; 1’7” long

Students living in Ute Hall are required to have the Blue Mesa or Mountaineer meal plans.
