Academic Help

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a free academic support program designed to help students succeed in historically challenging courses. SI combines what to learn with how to learn—providing structured study sessions led by trained peer leaders.

Students collaborate on a project together in a classroom.

What is SI?

SI offers free, voluntary, out-of-class study sessions led by trained students who’ve successfully completed the course. These interactive sessions help you break down difficult concepts, develop better study habits, and boost your grades—all without extra lectures or homework reviews.

Who leads SI sessions?

SI Leaders are students who’ve excelled in the course and completed specialized training to guide you through challenging material using proven learning strategies.

When and where are SI sessions?

Each SI Leader sets their own schedule. SI Leaders will email class rosters with available days and times for SI sessions. Be sure to periodically check your email for scheduling and reach out to your designated SI Leader with any questions.
