Housing Appeal Process

If you are a current western student, please review the information below regarding appeals.

If you have been admitted to Western, but have not submitted your deposit, you may need to submit a housing appeal in order to make a decision about attending Western. If this is the case, please email awieringa@western.edu with your name, student ID, brief description of your appeal, and any supporting documentation. This will initiate the appeals process and we will follow up with your shortly.

Exemption Housing Appeal Form

Deadline to appeal:

  • Fall Semester: July 15 by 5 p.m.
  • Spring Semester: Nov. 1 by 5 p.m.

This appeal is for the following students:

1. Student is married. Student must provide documentation of marriage certificate.
2. Student is living with parents or a legal guardian. Student must submit a letter from parents/guardian with cell number and address of home with signature from parent/guardian and a utility bill with name of parent/guardian on it.
3. Student is at least 21 years of age by the first day of classes without a signed housing contract.
4. Student has lived on campus for the equivalent of two full academic years at another college or university. Student must submit a signed letter from the department of residence life stating the years that the student lived on campus.
5. Student is an honorably discharged veteran. Verification needed.

Medical/Financial Housing Appeal Form

Deadline to appeal:

  • Fall Semester: July 15 by 5 p.m.
  • Spring Semester: Nov. 1 by 5 p.m.

This appeal is for the following students:

1. Extenuating circumstances after/before signing the housing contract in regards to finances.
2. Extenuating circumstances after/before signing the housing contract in regards to medical needs.
