
Early Childhood Education Courses
Western is excited to offer fall courses in Early Childhood Education. These courses are designed to equip educators, caregivers, and anyone interested in working with young children with the necessary knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on their development and well-being.
Fall 2023 Course Offerings
The Teacher Institute is pleased to host courses for Early Childhood Educators (Registration link below). We currently offer:
- EDUC 297: ECE 101 Introduction to Early Childhood Education
- EDUC 397: ECE 103 Positive Guidance & Emotional Support
EDUC 297: ECE 101 Introduction to Early Childhood Education
- Duration: 8/28 – 10/22
- Credits: Three
- Format: Online, eight weeks
- Weekly Zoom Session: Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m.
- Required textbook: “Who am I in the Lives of Children: An Introduction to Early Childhood Education, 11th ed.” by Stephanie Feeney, Eva Moravcik, and Sherry Nolte.
EDUC 397: ECE 103 Positive Guidance & Emotional Support
- Duration: 10/16 – 12/10
- Credits: Three
- Format: Online, eight weeks
- Weekly Zoom Session: Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m.
- Required Textbook: “Unpacking the Pyramid Model” by Lise Fox, Ph.D., Glen Dunlap, Ph.D., and Mary Louise Hemmeter, Ph.D.
Course Highlights for EDUC 297 and 397:
Participants in these courses will benefit from a dynamic learning experience, including:
- Interactive readings, videos, and quizzes
- Though-provoking journal prompts and discussions
- Engaging activities and practical assignments
Please note the state of Colorado is offering stipends to cover the cost of these courses if the student is not already Lead Teacher Certified. This is a great opportunity to get some ECE knowledge and expertise.
