Western staff member featured in CBS Denver news story

Western alumnus, staff member and local historian David Primus was featured in a news piece by CBS Denver regarding Gunnison’s successful efforts to quarantine the town from the Spanish flu outbreak of 1918. Using century-old newspaper clippings, Primus explained how Gunnison managed to prevent any community members from contracting illness by barricading the town and strictly patrolling the routes into and out of Gunnison. Primus, a class of 1981 graduate, has been researching local history for years and currently serves as the community engagement facilitator for Western’s Master in Environmental Management program.
