Let’s go, Mountaineers!

Mountaineer Fans will have a Homecoming Weekend to remember September 20-21, with events looking back to days gone by and celebrations marking the dawn of a new era. The weekend will have something for everyone, from parades to tailgates to the Lighting of the W and a football game in the newly-opened Mountaineer Bowl.

The events start on Friday at 8 a.m. when alumni are welcomed back into the classroom for Back to Class Day or invited to Three Rivers Resort for a half-day Float and Fish. At 12:30, the Alumni Club Volleyball Game will get going before Western Welcome at 2 p.m., where guests can enjoy refreshments while they peruse old yearbooks.

The Homecoming Parade will travel west on Ruby, south on Main, and east on Virginia in downtown Gunnison starting at 5 p.m., followed by the Annual Lighting of the W Party in the Paul M. Rady Building and Lawn at 7 p.m.

Then, on Saturday, September 21, alumni, locals, and Mountaineer fans from around the country will converge on the Rady Family Sports Complex and the Whipp Rugby Pitch for games starting at 10 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., the Memory Lane Luncheon will take place at the University Center Ballroom.

At 4 p.m. on Saturday, a tailgate party will kick off in the Paul Wright Gym parking lot before a horde of Mountaineers march to the newly renovated Mountaineer Bowl, where we’ll take on the Adams State Grizzlies at 6 p.m. during a “Blackout” event!

Whether you’re a proud alum, a current student, or a Mountaineer at heart, Western’s Homecoming Weekend is your chance to experience the camaraderie that defines the Mountaineer Nation.
