Western is proud to announce the launch of its latest digital endeavor, the Westerner Alumni Magazine website. The website showcases stories that both highlight individual accomplishments of Western alums, as well as keep the greater Mountaineer community informed about recent campus updates and happenings. Through in-depth interviews and captivating narratives, the magazine highlights the personal and professional triumphs of alumni, underscoring Western’s role in shaping leaders locally, nationally, and globally.
Megan West, Director of Alumni Relations, spearheaded this initiative with the objective of giving the alumni community a new avenue to stay engaged with their alma mater:
“Our goal with this new website is to enhance our reader’s experience by improving the design, functionality and content of the magazine site. We plan to offer high-quality, relevant, content that keeps visitors coming back for more,” she said.
In addition to sharing feature-length articles covering a multitude of topics, the Westerner website also hopes to be a place where alumni can share updates about what they’ve achieved in their lives and careers since earning their degrees.
“The Westerner is a great resource for campus updates, but it is also a great tool for our alumni to share their stories. By submitting class notes and letters to the editor, alumni can share their experiences and stories with the Western community. The Westerner Magazine helps to keep our graduates connected and creates a sense of belonging to the institution long after graduation. As the Western family grows, so will our site by publishing relevant stories and providing resources that can be beneficial for all,” Megan said.
As Western prepares to send another class of alumni onto new journeys at the 2024 commencement ceremony, the Westerner hopes to serve as a place where they can share their future successes as well as stay up to date on what their classmates accomplish in the coming years. In an era where connectivity knows no bounds, the Westerner website is excited to serve as a virtual gathering place where the Mountaineer community can come together to celebrate the university they once called home.
