Western Colorado University earned a Silver rating in the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) reporting process, the Association for the Advancement for Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) recently announced.
Sustainability Performance
STARS is a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance. Institutions that receive a STARS rating are often featured in sustainability rankings like The Princeton Review’s Guide to Green Colleges and BestColleges.com’s Greenest Universities.
The rating also aims to increase an institution’s long-term sustainability goals by providing a framework for understanding sustainability across all aspects of higher education.
According to AASHE, it also strives to
“enable meaningful comparisons over time and across institutions using a common set of measurements developed with broad participation from the international campus sustainability community.”
Western remains dedicated to efforts focused on zero-waste across campus and the entire Gunnison community. Learn more about Western’s pursuit of zero-waste.
