More than 70 languages to learn online or with a mobile app.
Do you want to learn a new language in your spare time? Now is your chance.
Western Colorado University students will once again have access to the Mango Languages self-guided learning platform and a host of tools to help them improve their Spanish speaking skills, thanks to a grant from the Colorado Department of Education and the Colorado State Library.
Mango is a premiere language-learning platform that gives users access to a proven methodology and interactive lessons that involve listening and reading activities in more than 70 languages. Through Western’s subscription to the service, students have access to a mobile app or the desktop digital version.
“We encourage students to use it when they’re going to study abroad or just to supplement the work they’re doing for a class if they want a little extra help,” Director of Library Services Tiffanie Wick said. “We work with faculty to make sure we purchase materials that are appropriate to support their programs, whatever those might be. If a student wants to go into medicine, they can find lessons that will help them communicate with patients.”
Since Western started offering Mango to students in 2014, it has been a huge success on campus, with students taking more than 30,000 lessons. To learn more, students can access Mango through the Leslie J. Savage Library website or stop in to talk with a librarian.
