Sally Thode

Sally Thode has enjoyed a successful career in public lands management for the past 23 years. With an emphasis in the administration of public lands recreation, she has worked with diverse user groups, land management professionals and governmental agencies at all levels to preserve, conserve and sustain natural and cultural resources. She has directed and mentored numerous seasonal and full-time employees and volunteers of all ages in the care and appropriate use of public land, and she specializes in helping students explore and secure job opportunities in federal land management agencies.

Her career also includes owning a retail business and teaching in both the K-12 environment as well as the collegiate level. She currently travels internationally much of the year and is excited about the prospect of mentoring and teaching current and future professionals in the sustainability and wise multiple use of public and private lands. Examples of her current graduate student projects focus on quantifying nonmotorized trail use on federal and land trust lands in a popular mountain area; working with local ranchers to identify, record and communicate improvement projects being done on their lands; and identifying types and volume of recreational trail use in the Boulder County area.
