Biography

How did you discover Western?

I found a college with great skiing and began classes at Western! Obviously the skiing took priority over my education, but I returned as an adult learner to compete my teaching certification. Raised my family here and retired in May 2023. I have returned because the Adult Degree Completion program is one of the most fulfilling projects Western offers. It is worth coming back from retirement to help others finish their degrees, and walk across the stage as a Western graduate.

What are some of the highlights of your career?

I completed my teaching certificate and taught high school for several years. I returned to Western roots and taught classes in the English and Communications department. I love the students here; they are a breed of their own. I relate.

What excites you most about your field?

I like watching a student discover something about themselves they never thought possible. I love the challenge of approaching students with new and analytical thoughts to explore.

What is your favorite thing about the Gunnison Valley?

I ski, golf, hike, and grow things.
