B.S., University of Florida, Aerospace Engineering
Biography
My professional and academic experiences span the fields of aerospace, mechanical, and biomedical engineering. After earning a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida, I worked as a flight test engineer for the USAF at Holloman AFB, NM. I then served as an experimental engineer at Pratt & Whitney Government Engines before returning to UF to pursue an MS in Mechanical Engineering (earning the double Gator title). Subsequently, I relocated to Colorado to join Ball Aerospace as a test engineer and integration & test manager before pursuing my PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.
Research/Teaching:
My research focus is human balance and mobility. I completed post-doc appointments at the Kessler Foundation Research Center (NJ) and the Center for the Intrepid (TX). I examined walking and standing stability in individuals with multiple sclerosis, those recovering from stroke, and those walking with various lower-limb prostheses. Following that, I taught at George Mason University in the field of movement science and at Boise State University in the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering before relocating to Gunnison to teach at the Rady School of Computer Science and Engineering.
Why I’m excited to join the Rady School:
Everything at the Rady School is centered on student experience and success. My passion for teaching and my combination of professional, teaching, and research experience make for a great fit in a program that emphasizes real-world engineering experiences and skills. The natural environment of the Gunnison Valley and the expansive recreational opportunities it provides make having a good life balance easy for someone with my interests.
