For which course(s) are you the Supplemental Instructor? Calculus 1
Why should someone attend one of your SI sessions? SI is a great way to practice what you learn in class. It’s also a chance to get help and have your questions answered from a student who has taken the class recently. I worked as a tutor and a grader at Western for Calc 1 so I know a lot of the common misconceptions students may have about the subject. I also just love to help people understand math because it’s such an interesting and cool subject and I believe anyone can be great at it. At my SI sessions I focus on making sure no one is left behind or left confused.
What is your favorite thing about the course(s) you’re leading? Calculus takes all the tedious algebra you’ve been learning for years and turns it into something meaningful. If you can understand calculus lots of things in life make more sense. Calculus is also very rooted in real life examples which makes it more interesting to learn. Once you know calculus you basically sound like a genius to your friends and family.
