Protection of Trademarks and Logos
Western Colorado University’s trademarks and logos are protected by law. These include, but are not limited to, the University’s name, wordmarks, graphic marks, Mad Jack and W symbols, and any other visual representation associated with the University. Any use of these marks requires prior approval from the Office of Marketing and Communications.
Section 2
Authorized Use
Trademarks and logos must only be used in University-affiliated publications, merchandise, advertising, and promotional materials. Unauthorized use of University trademarks or logos is prohibited.
Section 3
Modifications
Alterations to the University’s logos, including changes in color, proportion, mirroring, or adding design elements, are not permitted unless approved by the Office of Marketing and Communications.
Section 4
Third-Party Usage
Third-party vendors must obtain permission to use Western Colorado University’s trademarks and logos and comply with the University’s licensing agreements.
Section 5
Exclusive Rights
The University holds exclusive rights to create, modify, and distribute any logo marks affiliated with the institution. No external entities or individuals are authorized to design or distribute new logo marks on behalf of the University without approval from the Office of Marketing and Communications. This ensures that all logos remain consistent and align with the University’s established brand guidelines.

Vintage Logos
Trademarks of vintage logos are the exclusive property of the University and may not be distributed or reproduced without prior approval from the Office of Marketing and Communications or the Office of the President.
Section 7
University Seal
The Western Colorado University seal symbolizes the institution’s authority and tradition. It is reserved for official documents such as diplomas, certificates, and formal University publications.
Restricted Usage: The University seal is not to be used in place of logos on promotional items or informal communications. Any use of the seal requires approval from the Office of Marketing and Communications or the Office of the President.
