Need help?

You can submit a New Student Onboarding Assistance Request, give our Helpdesk a call, or if you happen to be on campus, stop by our office in Taylor Hall, Suite 125, MF 8AM-5PM.

IT information for Parents

When sending your incoming student off to university, you probably have a few questions to ask about computers, IT assistance services and more.

Just about any computer with a modern (2 to 3 years old) operating system will work, including Mac, Windows and Linux. Most students choose laptops for the mobility, but desktops are OK too. Please note we do not recommend Chromebooks. If you do go with a laptop, get the extended warranty and damage insurance as they tend to get fairly beat up. Our environment also works with most tablets and phones.

Information for Rady Engineering Partnership Program Students

If your student will be participating in the Rady Engineering Partnership program, they may have special technology requirements. Your student should have received these details in an email, but you can reach out to radyschool@western.edu with any questions.

We have a great Student IT Helpdesk to help out with just about any computing problem your student might have.

Yes, see our visitor section below to get details on how to connect to Wi-Fi when you are on campus.

Visitor Internet Access

Western provides a fully functional wireless internet connection for anyone visiting campus.

Visitors to campus can get temporary access (five days) to the internet by connecting to the Western-Visitors wireless network. If you are unable to connect to Western-Visitors after self-registering, please stop by IT Services (Taylor Hall 125) Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
