Biography
Kelly Simons is a Technical Director and Theatre Educator. She began her teaching career at Utah State University, where she served as an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in Technical Direction, and the department’s Technical Director. During her time at U.S.U. , she successfully helmed eight fully-realized shows, all of which were on time and under budget, taught a full year of Technical Theatre courses face to face during COVID-19, and overhauled the props storage area with a team of 11 others.
Kelly is most interested in the budgeting, scheduling and building of scenic elements for each show. She currently serves on the board of United States Institute of Theatre Technology, Inter Mountain Desert Region (USITT IMDR)
Her husband holds an M.F.A. in Oil Painting, and they own 2 dogs and a cat together.
How did you discover Western?
I found Western by searching for colleges in Colorado during my job hunt. Luckily for me, WCU has a theatre department and was hiring!
