How did you discover Western?

I first discovered Western at my community college, where my advisor and program chair shared that he graduated from Western with the same degree I wanted to get. He shared with me about what the ROE program is like at Western and what the Western community is like, and we both felt like it would be a great fit for me to check out for transferring. And when I came to visit the summer of 2019, I instantly fell in love with the campus culture and the Outdoor Ed program!

What are some of the highlights of your time at Western?

Being on the executive board of Amigos, making new friends and meeting new people, having my own radio show with KWSB, my outdoor education/interpretation classes and professors, being involved with the Concert Choir, one of my professors helping me get connected to serving in the Gunnison community as a Mentor with the Gunnison Valley Mentors Program, and just enjoying the beautiful outdoor spaces in the Valley!

What most excites you about your major?

That I get hands-on training to learn the fundamental skills I will actually use every day as a Park Ranger or Naturalist!

What is your favorite thing about the Gunnison Valley?

Everything! The diversity of natural resources and the easy accessibility to recreation are huge for me, and I love living in a small-town community where I can be involved in so many different ways.
