Biography

Elizabeth Currie moved to Gunnison from her hometown of West Chester, Pennsylvania in 2016 to begin her freshman year at Western. Currently, she is a senior graduating in May with a double major in English and Politics and Government. She joined Student Government during her junior year at Western as a Senator and then was elected to serve as Vice President of External Affairs. She acted as a liaison between the University and external entities, sitting as a non-voting member of the City Council of Gunnison for the fall semester of 2019. For the spring semester of 2020, she will be serving as President. She is actively involved in Western’s Politics Club, Women at Western, and serves as Vice President for the English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta. Her goal as the Student Body President is to work to facilitate a collective student view of Western as a home: a basecamp for success, and one that is of their own creation.
